Serving Teams

Sunday Service Teams
These are special oportunities to serve and represent the congregation each Sunday.

Greeters are individuals, couples and youth who enjoy meeting people and making guests
feel welcome at Our Redeemer as they:

  • Welcome visitors and members with a smile
  • Provide directions to Sanctuary, restrooms, classrooms, etc.
  • Offer information to new visitors the first time they visit

Ushers provide a face at the entrance to the Sanctuary for everyone entering church. Their
service includes:

  • Passing out bulletins as worshipers enter the Sanctuary
  • Helping people with special needs to their seats
  • Gathering the offerings during worship services

Sunday School and Bible Class Teachers

Sunday School and Bible Class teachers are folks who serve with a joyful heart by providing
age-appropriate religious instruction to the children, youth and adults of ORLC. Dedicated
volunteers introduce children to wonderful Bible stories, and help adults develop a deeper
understanding of God’s Word.

Altar Guild

The Altar Guild serves the Lord through reverent care for the furnishings of the Altar and
Chancel. Their service includes:

  • Ensuring supplies needed for worship are adequate
  • Caring for paraments, candles, etc. on the altar
  • Enhancing the Chancel with decorations for special services
  • Proclaiming seasons, festivals, and special events with banners

These groups certainly provide fellowship for the group members, but each focus on
serving God’s Kingdom outside of our chuch.

Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML)

Lutheran Women in Mission equips women for mission and ministry through inspiration,
service, and education. The LWML meets at 9:00 AM on the first Saturday of each month
at the church for fellowship, Bible Study and a business meeting.

Vision For Kenya Mission Project

Are you looking for an opportunity to put your faith into action? Would you be willing to
travel around the world to serve people in need? Then consider being one of our short-term
missionaries we send to run a week-long vision clinic in Kenya twice each year.

P.I.E. (Partners in Education)

Join the fun as we serve our neighborhood school and her students. We’ve adopted
Jefferson Elementary, and we work on various projects as a way to touch the lives of God’s children.

This group provides fellowship with people that enjoy quilting. You can work on your own
project, share quilting experiences, go on “shop hops,” or help make charity quilts. No experience
needed! Meets on Friday mornings at 9:00 AM at the church.

This group is for all who enjoy doing crafts. They meet on Friday mornings at 10:00 AM at
the church. Bring a lunch and a craft you enjoy working on … or learn a new craft with the group!

This group provides an opportunity for people of all ages to put their faith into action as
they care for God’s creation. The group meets quarterly to beautify a 2-mile stretch of Hwy 79 South.

Service and Fellowship Groups | Internal
These groups also provide fellowship for their group members, but each focus on
serving God’s Kingdom inside of our chuch.

This fellowship group is designed for families with younger children. They meet monthly for
fun, fellowship and games, giving their children a wonderful opportunity to interact with other
young children of the congregation.

Pairs and Spares

Open to adults of all ages, this group meets monthly for a wide variety of activities
including going to new restaurants, Bunco, seasonal parties, etc. Both couples (pairs) and
singles (spares) are welcome, and all are guaranteed to have a great time!

Are you 60 or older? Do you want to hang out with others your age? Then Primetimers
is for you! This group meets monthly for fellowship meals, games, trips to museums, the
theatre, and just about any other activity that is fun!

Holy Smokers Grill Team

Whenever there is “A Need to Feed,” these men jump into action. If you enjoy spending
time in fellowship AND service, you would be more than welcome to join the team.

Co-ed Softball

Each year men and women of ORLC lace up their cleats in order to do battle on the
diamond. Actually, they just want to have some fun, and get a little exercise at the same
time. Whether you’re a pro or a bush-leaguer, you’re welcome on our team!
